The Amateur Maker’s First Post

I’m at a loss for how to start my first post, so I’ll just cut to the chase. I would like to use this blog as a home for sharing my ideas and activities regarding making, building, and general tinkering of physical things and the software related to those things.

I have always been interested in things that are related to maker culture, such as 3D printing, and DIY electronics, but haven’t started really thinking about joining the “maker movement” until recently.

Great timing too. My wife has access as a lab tech to many resources relating to 3D printers and laser cutters, and with RadioShack quickly going to the wayside, I have gotten my hands on a lot of electronic gadgets and gizmos (mainly Arduino shields and micro controllers). I’ve joined a technology group I found on Meetup.com and have already started thinking (and researching) the various projects I would love to pursue.

It’s an exciting time to be an amateur maker (a beginner at that) and I hope you’ll bare with me as I share my story in developing my skills, bringing life to my ideas, and reaching out to the community (you included!).
